Frequently Asked Questions

Simple answers about kidney health and our services.

When should I see a nephrologist (kidney specialist)?

See a nephrologist if you have diabetes or high BP for many years, raised creatinine, protein or blood in urine, swelling of face or feet, frothy urine, reduced urine output, or a family history of kidney disease.

What are the early signs of kidney disease?

Early kidney disease usually has no symptoms. Later signs include swelling, tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea, itching, breathlessness and frothy urine. Simple blood (creatinine) and urine tests can detect it early.

Does diabetes damage the kidneys?

Yes. Diabetes is the most common cause of kidney failure. Every diabetic should get a urine albumin test and serum creatinine at least once a year.

What is the difference between hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis?

Hemodialysis cleans blood through a machine, usually 2–3 times a week at a centre. Peritoneal dialysis uses the lining of the abdomen and can be done at home daily. The doctor helps choose what suits you best.

Is regular dialysis available at Nephrocare, Gondia?

Yes. Nephrocare offers advanced regular dialysis services along with critical-care dialysis (HD, SLED, CRRT) for ICU patients.

Do you provide kidney transplant guidance?

Yes. We provide counselling, pre-transplant evaluation guidance, coordination with transplant centres and long-term post-transplant follow-up.
